Visual Processing For Robotic Platforms

Dr. José M. Carranza

-Abstract:

In this talk I will present some examples of robotic platforms using cameras mounted on them in order to resolve a task. In this sense, an essential step is that of processing the visual data acquired with such cameras, but in particular, that of processing the visual data in real time. From simple shape recognition to 3D structure and camera motion estimation, real-time processing is a key element for a robotic platform to truly achieve autonomous behaviour, especially in a dynamic environment where sudden changes in the scene may require a rapid re-planning of the task or even when the robotic platform itself
